MidFirst Bank, the largest privately owned bank in the country, announced today a $250,000 donation to the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Pediatric Cancer Initiative. The gift was given by MidFirst Bank as part of a surprise check presentation to the Foundation at its annual Starlight Ball Gala on Saturday, Nov. 6.
“MidFirst Bank is honored to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its continued commitment to improving the care of children throughout Oklahoma,” said MidFirst Bank Chairman and CEO, Jeff Records. “The depth and breadth of the work done by the Foundation on a daily basis — from research and education to patient care — is vital for families impacted by childhood cancer and we could not think of a more deserving organization to which these funds could go.”
The funds donated by MidFirst Bank are expected to support the recruitment efforts of the Foundation to replace the hospital’s recently retired Section Chief of Hematology and Oncology, Dr. William H. Meyer. In addition to recruiting the next leader for the OU Department of Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology and The Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the donation will also support its ongoing efforts to improve the care of pediatric cancer patients, support research on pediatric cancer studies and train pediatric medical students at OU Health Sciences Center.
